Sundown (Past Chronicle 2010 & Earlier)

The truth is kept in the darkest places where mortal eyes dare not wander. Sundown, a turbulent frontier freehold, struggles to establish itself both as the premiere trading city along the southern coast of Tal'rah and as the gateway to the lands of Humans and last of the Moon Elves. Struggling with conflicts with the rising human nation of Windsong and with civil unrest from within, Sundown manages to keep her identity and prosperity in reasonable order — mostly thanks to long-established trade with the mysterious elder race known as the Shar'Vaire. Exotic magical items rare sorcerous knowledge help keep Sundown economically afloat, as well as steady the balance of continued skirmishes with Windsong.

Underneath this thriving, often chaotic, exterior lurks a darker, ancient secret that stems back to the arrival of the Elves and Humans in this realm: Imarel that is not their own. Stories persist in inns and taverns across the continent of Tal'rah that Sundown's leaders are not of the mortal realm, but vampires that have lived in secret for centuries...possibly eons. Their gentle stranglehold on Sundown and her citizenry is rumored to be invisibly rooted within the government and in merchant trade.

Most believe such ridiculous tales to be propaganda and mistruth spread by rebels that lurk within the city under the name of Shadow Hunters. They claim to be hunters of supernatural evil and self-proclaimed liberators, but most consider them simple troublemakers at best and fanatic zealots at worst. Yet, with people mysteriously disappearing every night and the same answers are given by guards and government alike, the lingering fear that hangs upon the very life of this city, as if upon the gallows and waiting for the killing stroke.

Such are the tales told and spun at taverns and inns across Tal'rah. The newly opened Whispering Raven is no different. Come join the heroes, villains and ordinary folk of Sundown and beyond for a drink and the possibility of intrigue or the danger of spilt blood on any given night. No soul is innocent and no truth is sacred within the walls of the Whispering Raven.
