Vijarun is a flowering cactus that grows exclusively in the Tashrani Desert. The cactus itself is small and round, with a bright pink blossom that forms at the top, usually during the cooler months of the year, especially during Miro, which is considered the rainy season for that part of Tal`Rah. The base of the Vijarun can be cut open and eaten, with a sweet, water-filled center (it is advisable to not attempt to eat the thick skin however, as the small hair-like barbs are painful on the mouth) but the blossom itself is popular amongst Tashrani women, who wear them in their hair and make scented oils from them. A wreath of Vijarun blossoms on the first horse of a caravan is said to bring good luck.
