Orray Jelly

Also called ‘Warlock’s Jelly’, the Orray is a jelly fungus found in hot, humid areas of the west growing on rotten wood and plant matter, and is easy to identify by its bright orange-yellow colour and slimy appearance.  This fungus is edible, with a buttery flavor and can be used to replace it as a spread on bread or biscuits, or otherwise used in cooking, though is often described as too rich to eat plain. The Orray can be dried as trail food, though it shrivels to a miniscule fraction of its original size.
