Native Imarel Flora - by T.A. Saunders, B.Kellestine, K.Johnson v3

Sahira Tree

A strange variety of tree native to all three continents of the westlands, the Sahira tree consists of a girthy, tall trunk with only a few short leafy branches at the top.  The Sahira grows only near coastlines, with gnarled stabilizing roots and longer, thinner roots that only grow towards salt water. These roots soak up the water, desalinate it, and store the clean fresh water in a massive central vessel inside the trunk.  As a result, the wood of the mature tree is soft and almost fleshy. Wanderers favor this tree, as it is easy to tap for the clean, fresh water where there might not be much otherwise available. If dried, the wood is brittle, but makes excellent tinder.
